When it comes to getting up, being patient is really important, especially when you are trying to get up for the first time. It may take a few times till you do it. But then again, you may do it from the first time, which is great!J
Some professional wakeboarders took a few times to stand up when they were first learning, so it’s not a problem to take it slow.
In order to stand up you’ll need a few basic points:
1- You have to hold the handle with your hands and your knees between your hands and try to bring your knees close to your chest.
2- Relax and don’t worry about the board sinking, relax it will float.
3- Let the boat pool you up and don’t resist with your back and your legs (relax) trust me the boat is stronger.
4- Adjust your feet to make the board launch and slid, don’t push with your heals you will see that your body will go forward. Always lean back just a little.
5- Don’t try to stand up early, you can keep going by sitting so wait and stand up slowly or when you are ready.
If you’re up take your stance (goofy or regular). You can do this by pointing the board towards the back of the boat.
Here is a helpful diagram we found on the net:
Make sure the driver takes off slowly and accelerates slowly too, don’t pull a beginner too fast, it will not get them up any faster nor will it help, and like I said before be “patient” and “relax”.
